Weave a Rainbow Fish

There are many wonderful creatures in the underwater world. Today, we will be making the colourful rainbow fish. This is a great activity to practise your motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

What you need

Coloured paper

Step by step

1) Using a marker, draw the outline of your rainbow fish on a A4 size paper.

2) Cut out the outline.

3) Fold the fish into half.

4) Cut some lines about 2 to 3 cm apart.

5) Cut out some stripes of coloured paper, about 2 to 3 cm wide.

6) Start weaving!

Watch the video below to see how it's done.

You can vary the thickness according to your child's developmental level. Cut thicker strips for younger children so that it is easier for them to handle. Older children will enjoy the challenge of thinner strips.

You can make fishes of all shapes and sizes using this method and create your own underwater collage by putting them together!
